2016 is when I begin painting in celebration of my retirement. I had no idea how this belated artistic incursion would change the way I see the world, both with my eyes and my heart.
My paintings illustrate people, places and cultures that speak to me.
The images emanate from my photography, travels, studies and everyday life experience.
They may, at times, expose the harsher side of our humanity.
An occasional sense of accomplishment keeps me coming back to the workroom in spite of my impatience and self doubt. I must practice, study, improve, grow and flourish.
I must remember that this is only the beginning.
